Daydream Island nominated for best Australian resort

The accolades just keep rolling in for Daydream Island Resort and Spa.

The idyllic Whitsundays getaway is a finalist in the Spice Hot 100 Hotels, Resorts and Venues in the Best Resorts in Australia category.

Spice News is the most comprehensive news service for the Australian MICE and event management industry and the awards celebrate the best hotels, resorts and venues in Australia and New Zealand.

“Daydream has invested heavily in the MICE sector over the past three years and we’re thrilled to be a finalist in the Spice Hot 100 awards,” Daydream Island Resort and Spa CEO Phil Casey said.

“Daydream’s profile, stunning location and the ability to be flexible and provide a personalised, intimate service has made it a favourite destination for this growing industry.

“We are keen to further invest in this important segment and showcase just why Daydream Island is known as the ‘jewel of the Whitsundays’.”

Located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, the 4.5 star resort offers 296 beautifully appointed rooms, comprehensive facilities such as the Rejuvenation Spa and Living Reef lagoon, adventurous activities, sparkling bays and secluded beaches which all combine to stimulate and inspire delegates.

Daydream Island Resort and Spa is big enough to host major events, yet small enough to provide a personal touch.

The Conference Centre has the ability to cater for up to 300 delegates (catering for up to 600 including partners) per room with the flexibility to handle events from boardroom meetings to gala dinners.

Daydream is easily reached from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane through the Great Barrier Reef Airport on Hamilton Island, or Whitsunday Coast Airport at Proserpine.

New Manager for Rejuvenation Spa

Daydream Island Resort & Spa has appointed respected spa industry professional Amanda Burleigh as manager of its signature 16-room Rejuvenation Spa.

Ms Burleigh’s appointment to the world class facility will be a homecoming of sorts - she previously worked at Daydream Island as head therapist from 2002 to 2004.

She joins Daydream Island with extensive experience both in Australia and overseas.

Her most recent position was with Heron Island Resort and she has previously managed spas at various iconic locations across Australia including Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa, Lilianfels in the Blue Mountains, Voyages Dunk Island Resort and Ayers Rock Resort.

“Daydream Island is the first spa I ever worked in and it’s like coming home,” Ms Burleigh said.

“I believe a spa experience is about the mind, body and soul. The Rejuvenation Spa offers a wide range of treatments which take clients on this total sensory journey including hydrotherapy, which is a great passion of mine.

“I am excited to return to Daydream and provide guests with the best spa experience possible.”

Ms Burleigh’s role includes training, implementing new procedures, performing extensive types of treatments and maintaining the high standards that Daydream Island guests expect.

The award-winning Rejuvenation Spa is a luxurious spa and wellbeing facility that combines an extensive array of health and beauty treatments and services with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

The spa provides a holistic approach to wellbeing, offering the time-tested health benefits of naturopathy, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy and massage, along with beauty therapies using products such as Pevonia Botanica and Eles Mineral Make up.

Facilities include 16 individual treatment rooms, Vichy showers, thermal tables, hydrotherapy tubs, steam effusion showers and private relaxation areas.

Unique to the Spa is one of Australia’s most advanced naturopathic testing and treatment clinics, offering a complete and comprehensive analysis of entire body systems, from full blood analysis to monitoring and measuring fat and muscle mass.
